About ECHO

WHO AM I?

I operate this blog under the Alias ECHO, an acronym meaning Explorer, Citizen of the world, Humanitarian, Optimist.  I am a teacher, entrepreneur, a life-long learner, and the mother of two energetic trilingual boys who are introduced to you under the aliases Zane and Dude.  My husband, AlphaPoppa, and my mother FoxyMama will also be seen making guest appearances on our travelogue.  Below you will find questions that I am commonly asked.

Where are you from?

I’m originally from The Bronx, New York, USA and I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Are you bilingual?

No, I am multi-lingual.  I speak English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.  I understand many other languages and I am a master at communicating with people with whom I do not share a language.  While living in France many years ago I often stayed up all night with my Polish roommate talking.  She spoke in Polish, a language to which I hadn’t had previous exposure and I spoke in English or French.  Everyone, including us, was confused as to how we communicated without misunderstanding so well.  It was amazing and led me to the term “language of the heart” leading me to believe that we all have the ability to communicate across all barriers if our communication comes from a genuine place of love.  I currently have a Mandarin Chinese tutor.

Where have you traveled?

Before starting this blog I’ve traveled, lived or studied in USA, Canada, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, The U.S. Virgin Islands, The British Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, England, Monaco, and Jamaica.   Since starting this blog in March 2012 We have traveled to Panamá, Germany, and many more places.

Why do you travel, what are you running from?
I travel because I love adventure, learning new things, people, and as mentioned before I believe that it is our birth-right as citizens of Earth.  I never run away from anything, I am indeed running toward global unity, compassion, love, and beauty.  On each journey I learn about a new place, its people, history and culture.  It is a humbling experience that makes me feel a deeper human connection to all people and on each journey I learn something new about myself.  Travel is my church.

What do you like to do when you are not traveling?
I love to dance, read, learn languages, teach, The Arts in all of its modes, and most importantly sharing experiences with people I love.

What don’t you like?
I can name a few things but they all would narrow down to fear dominance.  I don’t like fear; to feel it is human, to let it dominate you is cowardly.

Where would you like to travel?

Everywhere!  Just to name a few; Jordon, Liberia, Kenya, China, Perú, Japan, India, Thailand, Sweden, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Eygpt, Portugal, Antarctica, Madagascar.... Oh, believe me this list can go on forever!   I feel like I've been so many places, but not nearly enough to put a dent in my wish list.
